January 11th, 2010

Aurangzeb Road is a road lined with beautiful jacaranda trees, the ideal shade for a hot summer. Situated on one of the radial roads in Connaught place which is named after one of the Mughal rulers, lies the Ecole Francaise de Delhi’ better known as the French Embassy in India known as the ‘. In the process of maintaining cordial relations with France, the education system in India is inspired by the French Education system so much that it seems to have an impact on some International schools in the Country. The French Embassy itself runs its own schools for children with Parents serving in France but on transfer to India.

The French school follows the French National Curriculum and the medium of Instruction is purely in French with English as a side subject. A Non-denominational establishment, the French School is for the children of expats and Migrants, children with parents on transfers, short commissions and short term assignments. These schools are renowned for their outstanding educational standards and their dedication to bilingual studies and multiculturalism. An Independent private non-profit Institute, there are different levels at which education is imparted to the students.

The Lower School caters to children between the ages of 3 to 5 years and is equivalent to the nursery, LKG and Upper KG classes of the Indian Education System and consists of a mixed population of girl and boy students. Co-educational in nature, the Lower school has about 70 children on the whole. The Middle School on the other hand comprises students between the age group of 6 to 11 years and is also Co-educational in nature with about 124 pupils on Board. The Senior School lastly consists of students of the agegroup of 11 to 15 years, studying in a co-educational ambience with about 69 students in totality.

The French school however does not offer Boarding facilities to its students because it is understood that the parents of the children will also be on transfer and accommodation facilities will be offered to them automatically if they are Government servants, however, if the parents are transferred in private jobs then the load of searching of accommodation is their independent lookout. The school doesn’t as such have a uniform but the children are instructed to dress in formals to maintain the discipline the school demands. .OSA is also posting Blogs on the Internet on topics related to education and parenting and understands a child’s world perfectly.
