Not many people are familiar with Oro Valley, Arizona, but those who are know of its appeal. Oro Valley only has a population of approximately 43,000 people. However, the population has increased every single year. These moderate gains show how desirable Oro Valley can be as well as how much room there is to roam. With 31.9 square miles, Oro Valley isn’t the biggest city in the world, but that’s still more than enough room for 43,000 people. Oro Valley’s biggest population gain was in 2000, when several technology companies moved into the area. These technology companies didn’t only boost the population; they also offered excellent jobs and increased the city’s average household income by a substantial margin. Oro Valley is now listed as one of the best places to live for families as well as for anyone looking to start a business. In addition to that, it’s the safest city in Arizona.

The average household income in Oro Valley is a whopping $74,000. This is one of the highest in the United States. Only 2% of people live under the poverty line, which is a very low number. Everyone in Oro Valley has access to great hospitals, shopping and restaurants. At the same time, Oro Valley is careful not to overbuild. They value the environment and tend to focus more on natural outdoor attractions like public parks, Pusch Ridge, the Santa Clara Mountains, Canada del Oro and the Tortolita Mountains. Of course, most of these sites were present prior to Oro Valley being settled, but the city does a great job of maintaining trails and keeping everything clean.

As far as demographics, 93% of the population in Oro Valley is white. Approximately 6% to 7% of the population is Hispanic or Latino. 70% of people who live in Oro Valley are married. The biggest employers in Oro Valley are Sanofi-Aventis, Ventana Medical Systems, Integrated Biomolecule Corporation, Northwest Medical Center and Honeywell. As you can see, pharmaceuticals are now just as big of a player as technology.

There are 2 high schools in Oro Valley – both of them with excellent reputations. There is also a public library and art structures that can be found throughout the city. If you ever plan on visiting Oro Valley, you can stay at one of the several high-class Oro Valley resorts, which most travelers rave about. Regardless of whether it’s homes, shops, restaurants, schools or resorts, Oro Valley is top of the line in every category.

Information on Avondale AZ

Avondale is a city located in the southern portion of Arizona, in the United States. Avondale is situated in Maricopa county, and is home to over 76,000 people. The city is located in the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale metro area. It is a small town, registering as only 54 square miles in size, but is has been estimated to have more than doubled in population size in the past 10 years. It has the same amenities and basic functions as any other town in America, but there are also a few attractions and famous residents that make the city of Avondale a very unique place.

Avondale was established in the early 1900s as a watering hole for passing stage coaches. Back then it was known as Coldwater. The land was originally bought by Billy Moore, who purchased the land that Avondale is currently established on. He bought 280 acres for 70 silver dollars. A few years after the purchase, the railroad established a station in the area near a ranch called Avondale. From the station a town began to grow, and eventually turned into what is called Avondale today. It remained a small town, with only a population of about 2,500 people up until the 1950s. The town began to build up and has been experiencing an exponential increase in population ever since.

Today Avondale was has many of the same amenities that any other American city would have. It has a school system with high schools such as West View, Agua Fria, and La Joya. It also has all the public services of a town like libraries, fire and police departments, courts and so on. However there is one big attraction that really makes Avondale stand out not just in Arizona, but all around the world. What really draws most people to the town today is the Phoenix International Raceway, established in 1964. Phoenix Raceway is home to many racing events including two NASCAR events annually. It has also hosted the Indycar Series, CART, USAC and the Rolex Sports Car Series.

There are even a few celebrities who call Avondale home. Randall McDaniel, a former offensive guard in the National Football League and Everson Griffen, defensive end for the University of Southern California Trojans both lived in Avondale and attended Agua Fria High School. MLB star Shawn Gilbert, Detroit Lions punter Nick Harris and Clancy Pendergast, Defensive Coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs all lived in Avondale as well.
